With its coat of pink trimmed in pale green and Mediterranean Revival towers rising above Tampa Bay, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort still evokes the cool glamour of its Roaring ‘20s debut. OOwned by Marriott, it's less about the rooms and more about stepping into history. The property is also a favorite haunt of modern-day celebs and sports stars. A private marina, 18-hole golf course, and 12-court tennis center add to the luxe factor, but two features in particular inspire devotion among the downtown gay crowd: its wide, shaded porch with wicker rockers overlooking the water, which is the classiest spot in town for savoring a cocktail, and the over-the top Sunday brunch that defines decadence with its custom omelets, caviar service, carving stations, chilled shrimp and crab legs, and dessert table with chocolate fondue fountain.
