Although a little ways from the center of homo action in Warm Sands and catering to straights as well as gays, this gay-owned property should be on everyone's radar. This sprawling, clean, modernist resort of 22 villas built on 2.5 acres was designed by noted desert architect William F. Cody, and it shows. White brick rooms with angular black roofs feel open to the elements, with sliding glass doors, outdoor showers, large copper fireplaces, and some suites with full kitchenettes. There are huge social areas around a large pool and a poolside bar. Feeling more like a secluded retreat, it's no wonder Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, and Rosalind Russell all stayed here.
