This funky property opens its doors to "shabby neo-romantic Ostro-Goths" and well, everyone else who enjoys an artsy, fun NYC experience. This century-old building offers low rates in its refurbished 150 rooms and the place pulls in a large crowd of creative types, Euro-kids, and New Wave celebrities. A jazz room off the Pop Art-bedecked lobby and a beat up art gallery (with an actual Campbell's Soup Can by Andy Warhol, signed by the queer artist) bring in the alternative crowds. The famous "models' floor" offers young, photogenic ladies a bargain rate in dorm-style rooms while they seek their fame in New York. The hotel's exterior is happily bizarre with huge rhino-type horns jutting from its maroon face and it just so happens to be near the graphic Museum of Sex. The Gershwin also boasts The Living Room, a separate performance space that features regular music, comedy, and theater performances. Each of the thirteen floors boasts its own installation of original art for you to enjoy.
