What to do in Horsethief Lake State Park

Horsethief Lake State Park is part of Klickitat County in southwest Washington, 17 miles east of White Salmon and 28 miles west of Goldendale on State Route 14. With 7,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Columbia River, the park also covers over 300 acres.

Well known petroglyph "She Who Watches" and other significant Native American cultural resources are located at this park. The petroglyph access is available only by guided tour, 10: 00 AM, Friday and Saturday April through October. Reservations for the guided tours must be requested in advance through the Park Ranger at (509) 767-1159.

Climate
Influenced by the Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains, this area is characterized by a generally wet and temperate climate. Winters are cool and cloudy with rain and some snow. Maximum winter temperatures are normally in the mid- to high 40s with minimum temperatures in the mid 30s. Summers are warm and relatively dry with maximum and minimum temperatures in the mid 70s and low 50s, respectively.
