What to do in Honolulu
Every year, millions of vacationers pass through Honolulu on their way to destination weddings or honeymoons. It’s a shame, because you can only listen to Bob Marley and wear flowered shirts for so long. Situated on the southeastern shore of the island of Oahu, this "sheltered bay" has the charm of the laid-back Hawaiian atmosphere and culture, but with the added big-city feel (including the potential for gridlock traffic). The world-famous neighborhood of Waikiki Beach is packed with trendy hot spots, nightclubs, and great dining options, including the home kitchen to the original Iron Chef’s Masaharu Morimoto. Fill your days lying on pristine beaches or taking to the water. The sport du jour is stand-up paddleboarding, which originated in the Hawaiian Islands and is much easier than trying to surf their famous waves.
