What to do in Great River Road State Park

Situated inside the Mississippi River levee and bordered by the majestic river on its western edge, Great River Road State Park offers magnificent views of the ‘Father of Waters' from a setting unmatched in natural beauty. The focal point of the park is a 75-foot high overlook tower, which provides panoramic views of the Mississippi River as well as being the ideal spot for a picnic. The park is named for the Great River Road, a scenic parkway that follows the Mississippi from its beginning as a small Canadian creek to its end at the Gulf of Mexico.

Located on the Mississippi River, Great River Road State Park's 4-level observation tower offers a magnificent view of the river. Visitors may choose from the available campsites for there overnight accommodations. Other park facilities include softball fields, a visitor's center with fast food and catering service, nature trails and 61 camping sites.

Recreational activities include fishing, boating, hiking and viewing scenery.

Great River Road State Park is located off Mississippi 1 in Rosedale, just 35 miles north of Greenville.

Mississippi generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Freezing temperatures are possible in the winter. Thunderstorms and are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.
