If you’re a surfer, hiker, snowboarder, or outdoors enthusiast of any kind, you know that picture-perfect opportunities come at you fast. And by the time you dig the camera out of your pack, the moment has passed. GoPro Digital Hero offers a simple solution: strap the 640x480-resolution camera (perfect for web sharing) right on to your wrist so there's no more fumbling around and missing the shot. The camera locks flat during activity and pivots up at a moments notice. The shock-proof, waterproof casing protects the camera up to 100 feet (though the camera functions only down to 30), and you can shoot ten-second video clips. Not enough to capture an Apocalypse Now-style beachhead speech, but it should be plenty of time to capture your friend’s newest jump, turn, or flip. You won’t get the same image quality as you would get from a $300 camera, and it’d be much more utilitarian if the camera could Velco-mount on a variety places (like, say, your bike handlebars), but the Hero will still offer loads of mid-huck entertainment. Downloading photos and videos is a snap with the included USB plug.
