With its calm, gulf waters and white, sandy beaches, it's not hard to see why Naples is a popular destination for beachcombers. Not only are the beaches beautiful, but many are protected because of the wildlife they support. Peak season for this southwestern region starts in the end of December and lasts through April, when outdoor temperatures range from 65 to 85 degrees with little to no humidity.
Check out Clam Pass County Park to explore shallow tidal pools and a quiet, undisturbed beach. A wooded boardwalk stretches beneath a canopy of mangrove trees, which serve to stabilize the low-lying coastal area. You may have the chance to spot an egret or pelican.
Tigertail Beach Park is a 31-acre gulf-front beach on Marco Island. A beautiful beach resides on the edge of a lagoon just beyond a series of wooden ramps that take you over soft dunes. There are five boardwalks, picnic areas, a butterfly garden, and windsurfing and kayak rentals.
Barefoot Beach Preserve is another popular park with 342 acres of natural land and 8,200 feet of beach, backed by a tropical coastal framework of sea grape, gumbo-limbo, and sable palm, all supported by vast stretches of sand dunes.
Lowdermilk Beach Park is a popular beach with a little something for everyone. Check out the legendary shopping district, Fifth Avenue South, then go for a stroll, and return to the beach for a little relaxation in the sun. A hot spot for tourists and locals, the park offers 1,000 feet of beachfront, picnic tables, a playground, and volleyball games under the shade of large palm trees.
