7. Go on a Wildlife Safari
For those with less time to venture too far out of Cape Town but who still want to see some of Africa's biggest game, there are a number of close-by nature preserves where guests have the chance to view wild animals like buffaloes, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, and leopards in their natural environment. Aquila Game Reserve is the most popular wildlife reserve in the Cape Town vicinity (two hours' drive), while other options include Kagga Kamma (three hours' drive, home to wildebeest, ostriches, zebras, springbok, bontebok) and Inverdoorn (two hours' drive, home to giraffes, zebras, oryx, impala, cheetahs. lions). The Aquila Safari departs early in the morning from Cape Town and includes a full day of game viewing and birdwatching, as well as delicious meals and hospitality in the game lodge. Overnight accommodations are available in all of the above reserves, ranging from rustic to high-end.
