2. Mountain Biking and Sea Kayaking Thailand
Just north of Phuket, the majestic Phang Nga Bay and Phang Nga Province are an outdoors lover's playground. David Williams, owner of Paddle Asia, takes full advantage of the surroundings to offer a slew of paddling and mountain-biking options, from one to ten days. A four-day combination starts with a two-day bike loop just across the bridge into Phuket. You'll bike through rubber and oil-palm plantations, across rice paddies, up and down old growth forest on singletracks and secondary roads, stopping to swim under waterfalls and in hot springs. Your reward is the chance to sea kayak for two days in one of the most spectacular settings for the sport. Phang Nga Bay is known for its jagged limestone rock formations that shoot up from the water. You'll paddle around islands, through mangrove channels, and inside caves, picnicking on remote white-sand beaches. Cost of the four-day trip is $600 including lodging, meals, equipment, and a PaddleAsia T-shirt.
