In 1991, Sunday River was one of the first ski areas in the United States to launch a summer downhill mountain bike park. In 2003, the owners shuttered its summer lift operations, but now under new ownership, Maine's Sunday River Mountain Bike Park is back in business. This year marks the first full bike season after the hiatus, with 21 trails and 20 miles of lift-serviced riding.

After recovering and cleaning up the abandoned original trails, this park put the onus on adding beginner terrain to its highly technical repertoire. A top-to-bottom, family-friendly route has now been added to the mix.

For advanced riders, this park boasts elevated bridges, a dual slalom course, and cross-country singletrack. The Perfect Turn Express Quad delivers riders to a view of the Mahoosuc Mountains and the top of challenging downhill trails like Grease Monkey and Tombstone.

A number of new features are also slated for this resurrected park, including a downhill-BMX-style track, a pump track, and a skills park with skinny ladder bridges, steep roll-downs, and drops.
