SHOP WITH YOUR SHADOW: Royal Palm Way in the Bal Harbour 'hood (Corel)

Places to Shop:
Although some like to joke that when it comes to dress codes in Miami, nude is the new black, the clothing you see draped over the city's buff bodies is always cutting edge—though it is indeed minimalist. For celebs like J-Lo, Cameron Diaz, and Robert De Niro, Lincoln Road's chichi En Avance (734 Lincoln Road, 305-534-0337) is the place for bold-faced brands such as D Squared, Juicy Couture—for mom and baby—and La Cosa. Also on Lincoln Road is the hyper-hip boutique Chroma (920 Lincoln Road, 305-695-8808), where Carmen Electra and Paula Abdul were spotted exercising their plastic on name brands such as Barbara Bui, Boyd, Catherine Malandrino, Fake London, Karen Walker, Samantha Chang, and Wink. Owner Bonnie Englestein is known for stocking up-and-coming designers such as 0, Mint, and Whistles, whose threads have grabbed the attention of wardrobe stylists from MTV and HBO.

For CSI Miami's David Caruso (whose swank Steam boutique on West Avenue ain't too shabby, either!) and Angie Harmon, Bal Harbour Shops (9700 Collins Avenue, 305-866-0311) is to fashionistas what Toys R Us is to kids. Gucci, Prada, Tiffany, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Burberry—the list reads like a who's who of couture, almost as stellar as the list of names of those who shop there!
