This 16-cottage St. George's resort is celebrated for its stylish suites and casual Bohemian vibe, but it may soon be equally renowned for its commitment to holistic health. Launched late last year, the retreats at the spa and yoga center vary in length, focus on everything from stress management to detoxification, and include elements you rarely find elsewhere, such as philosophy classes and a raw-food menu that's sourced entirely from local growers who adhere to sustainable farming practices.

The more typical elements of these retreats include private yoga classes, massages, Pilates and meditation. The included spa services employ natural ingredients such as jasmine, frangipani, nutmeg and cinnamon harvested 30 minutes before each treatment for maximum potency.

For less self-centered enrichment, guests may spend a day volunteering with a local charity, helping residents revive hurricane-damaged cocoa plantations. For all that you give up that day (a dip in your private plunge pool, cocktails in the breezy beach pavilion), the karmic return is immeasurable.

From $425 in low season ($725 high). Seven-night retreats start at $5,980, including meals and activities. 473-439-0001
