Getting There:
British Airways and KLM both fly through Europe to Kenya. From Nairobi, hop on an hour-long Safarilink flight to Masai Mara.

Abercombie & Kent in Kenya:
Abercombie & Kent (800.554.7016) has been bringing guests on safari to Kenya since 1962. The best time to go is during the dry months of June through mid-October. They offer many tours in East Africa that include a stop at Masai Mara. Prices vary, from $4,585 per person for a ten-day Highlights of Kenya Tour to $8,080 per person for a 10-day mobile tented safari called the Kenya Hemingway Safari. Guest to guide ratios on all A&K trips hover around 10 to 1.

Lodging:
Just outside the eastern edge of Masai Mara National Reserve, overlooking the hippo-laden waters of the Mara River, it's hard to top the location of the Olonana Safari Lodge. Prices start at $306 U.S. a night per person for the room, plus an extra $260 a night per person for full board and game drives.
