Carved into the mountainside, the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa’s top-floor rooms offer spectacular views of Saint Thomas’ bays and beaches. At this 294-room all-inclusive property, situated on 34 acres on Smith Bay just seven miles from the international airport, even premium liquors and house wines are included in the rate. Staying here makes it easy to visit Saint John and Virgin Islands National Park, a 15-minute ferry ride away. The property features three pools, four lighted tennis courts, a fitness center, two restaurants, and the Journeys Spa. The beach is relatively small, but serviceable.

Why Families Love It:
Not only are meals included in the price of a vacation here, complimentary snacks are available all day long, making the resort perfect for families with young children who feel hungry between meals. Active families can try windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and other non-motorized water accessories free of charge. Take windsurfing and scuba lessons (an extra fee). Families splurge on the popular day-sail to the island of Jost Van Dyke in the nearby British Virgin Islands (passports required) for swimming, snorkeling, and snoozing on hammocks strewn over White Bay Beach ($110 adults, $55 ages 12 and younger.) Daily and weekly resort activities include beach volleyball, poolside bingo, fitness walks, snorkel scavenger hunts, and eco-education, where families can learn about the island’s unique flora and fauna.

Children ages four to 12 can join the complimentary Kids Club, open daily 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., where they take part in iguana feedings, water games, kayaking, pool relays, shell collecting, toy boat making, snorkeling, stories, games, and movies.

Special Activities & Events:
Whether in the kids’ club or not, kids can go to the iguana feedings at 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
