Located on the western side of the island, three miles from the international airport, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, formerly consisting of beach suites plus a garden hotel across the road, now offers suites only. The 53 one- and two-bedroom units sit on two acres fronting Grand Cayman's most famous stretch of sand, Seven Mile Beach. Ranging from 640 to 1,000 square feet, the suites give families room to spread out, with separate bedrooms and living/dining areas plus a kitchenette. The resort also has two restaurants, two pools, a spa, and a golf course across the street (shuttle service provided).

Why Families Love It:
Camp Hyatt on the Beach keeps ages three to 11 busy Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by special request on weekends. The cost is $56 per day (extra for lunch), but check for special packages that, for example, let the first child in a group attend camp for free. Activities take place both at the resort and off property. Those at the resort include crafts, coconut bowling, and beach games. Counselors take kids to visit such island attractions as the Cayman Turtle Farm, the Butterfly Farm, the Cayman Bird Sanctuary, and the Atlantis submarine. Families can go together to Rum Point Club, Hyatt's off-property beach facility about an hour away. Rum Point has a beach, casual dining, and shady hammocks in which to while away the hours.

Special Events & Activities:
You can't visit Grand Cayman without the requisite trip to Stingray City to snorkel among the island's famed people-friendly stingrays. It's best to avoid days when cruise ships are in port and, if you can, go on a smaller boat rather than a large tour.
