The Spread:
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, located just an hour from Milwaukee and 90 minutes from Chicago, sprawls over 1,300 acres including two golf courses, downhill ski trails, horseback riding, and walks into the woods. The resort is only five minutes from Lake Geneva's historic downtown and Geneva Lake, Wisconsin's second largest and second deepest lake. The 355-room resort has plenty to entice families along with a more casual side in its 225-suite Timber Ridge Lodge, home to the year-round water park.
Why Families Love It:
Kidsand adultsget happily drenched at Moose Mountain Falls, a 50,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor water park where you can barrel down one of the 35-foot water slides or meander along the Lazy River. The facility also has a game arcade and barbecue restaurant.
The resort's Kids Are Grand program offers daily activities, including water-park visits, for ages four to 12 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., $40 per child per session; 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., $50 per child). In-room care is available for ages three and under.
The supervised children's program is conveniently located in the lower level of the spa complex so parents can easily enjoy a treatment while kids are happily entertained. Families can join old-fashioned hayrides (sleigh rides in winter) and ages seven and older can go horseback riding, too. And in addition to stellar golf, there's tennis on eight courts, two of which are indoors.
Special Events & Activities:
Grand Geneva Resort always hosts Lake Geneva's July 4th fireworks show and barbecue. Resort guests become part of the community in this annual family event.
