The Spread:
The stunning desert environment informs the architecture and programs of this family fave, just 29 miles from the Phoenix airport. Situated on 40 acres on the lower slopes of Pinnacle Peak, the resort's 210 rooms are set in 25 casita buildings designed to blend into the desert landscape. The world-class Troon North Golf Course is just a stone's throw away, but golf isn't the only game in town. The hotel also has two Plexi-cushion tennis courts, a huge free-form pool, and excellent hiking trails that start right on the property. Those who want to relax and rejuvenate can sink into opulent indulgence at the 12,000-square-foot spa.

Why Families Love It:
The Four Seasons offers a host of programs and activities for its guests. Depending on the ages of your children you might try a geology nature walk, guided hikes on Pinnacle Peak's interpretive trails, a photo workshop, cooking classes, or stargazing. Want to get into the spirit of the Old West? Then there's Roping 101 (no real cattle involved). And after playing hard all day, there's always the 6,000-square-foot bi-level pool with a separate children's pool and shady cabanas. Four Seasons also provides comfy child-size bathrobes, children's toiletries, and childproofing items, among other amenities. Spa treatments here aren't just for adults; teens aged 16 and up are invited to indulge in a variety of facials. Four Seasons' chain-wide children's program, Kids for All Seasons, is a year-round, complimentary program for ages five to 12 where kids swim, hike, hunt for treasure, try cowboy and Native American crafts, learn about desert ecology and wildlife, and play a variety of games (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; there is a fee for optional lunch).

Special Activities & Events:
Cowboy Campfire, one of the resort's most popular family events, is offered seasonally, typically spring break and winter holidays. Enjoy a night of Old West songs and tales with a real cowboy crooner, plus plenty of s'mores and other campfire snacks.
