Coconut Bay Resort & Spa sprawls across 85 acres along Saint Lucia's south coast, a short ride from the Hewanorra International Airport. The mid-priced all-inclusive resort appeals to couples, singles, and families. The adult pool and the spa (extra fee for services) are set aside in a quieter area away from the Kidz Klub and the CocoLand water park, the major draws for families. All 254 rooms, renovated in 2004, have ocean views and balconies.

Pre-register for the complimentary children's program, so that at check-in the kids will receive their CocoPacks—a tote bag with a water bottle, T-shirt, hat, and journal.

Why Families Love It:
Even before you see CocoLand water park, you hear kids shrieking with delight as they cannonball into the pool, twist down the Coconut Coaster—an open water slide—or zoom along the enclosed Coconut Canon. Little kids splash in their own wading area, sprayed by fountains and a tipping water bucket. There's also a lazy river for languidly floating along with your family.

The Kids Klub at Coconut Bay Resort & Spa functions June through mid-September, and major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and spring break. The program divides into CocoKidz, for ages three to nine, and CocoAdventures, for ages ten to 14. Both operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids may eat meals with their group or with their parents. Youngsters in both groups splash around at the water park, Saint Lucia's largest, go on nature hikes in search of iguanas and parrots, or create crafts. In addition, 'tweens and teens face team-based challenges in the Adventure Club such as digital scavenger hunts, volleyball with oversized balls, and they may take soccer, tennis, and basketball lessons.

The resort books off-site adventures that include kayaking, snorkeling, and diving as well as bicycling or hiking through the rainforest.
