What to do in Econfina River State Park

Econfina River State Park is located in the North Central Travel Region of Florida off the beaten path. It is southeast of Apalachicola National Forest and Wakulla Springs State Park, the state's only hotel facility. Econfina offers access to the Gulf where visitors enjoy boating, fishing, canoeing and more. Spectacular vistas and scenic beauty encircle the land.

Econfina River is located on the Gulf of Mexico and consists of 3,377 acres of greatly varied landscapes. From pine flatwoods, to oak / palm forests, to broad expanses of salt marsh dotted with pine islands, the park offers spectacular vistas and scenic beauty.

Recreation
Primary recreational activities include picnicking, canoeing, boating, and fishing. Unimproved hiking and equestrian trails are also available.

Location
Econfina River State Park is located in northwest Florida, in Taylor County at the end of State Road 14, south of U.S. 98 and southeast of Tallahassee.

Climate
Florida experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area offers a great warm escape for outdoor recreation during the cold northern months. Summer temperatures average in the low 80's Fahrenheit and mid 20's Celsius. Winters are mild with temperatures averaging between the high 40's to the high 50's Fahrenheit. The average precipitation for the north central area is diverse. The central western area receives more than 60 inches per year while the central eastern tract receives about 50 inches. August and September are peak months of the hurricane season that lasts from June 1 through November 30.
