Disney World Family Travel Tips
- Create an itinerary before you go. Check your children's heights to see which rides they can get on, and look at the calendar and a map to see which shows are offered on which days. Allow plenty of time to get from one area of the park to another, and even more to travel between parks.
- Not all parades and special events are offered every day. Look at the park's calendar and a map before you plan your day. If you plan on leaving one park and going to another for a specific show, allow ample travel time!
- Take a break. The middle of the day can be unbearably hot in Florida. If you're staying close by, this would be a good time to retreat to the hotel for a dip in the pool or a rest in the room. If not, a sit-down lunch or early dinner might be in order.
- Fantasyland is the most popular area for kids but is much slower (and cooler) in the evening. This might be the perfect time to try the Dumbo ride.
- Got kids of all ages? Try the "baby swap" option, which allows both parents to take turns riding with older kids without having to wait in line all over again.

As the most visited—and likely most recognizable—theme park in the world, Disney's Magic Kingdom seems to epitomize the family vacation. It's got everything, from food and rides to parades, entertainment, and, yes, a plethora of costumed characters. It can also be overwhelming.
