Anonymous user asked:Anonymous user answered:Depends on how luxurious you want to go. If you're in for the full-luxe, all inclusive experience, Hacienda Tres Rios or Mayakoba are both north of Playa Del Carmen (45 min south of Cancun) and are great for kids. The beach at Mayakoba is better, but you also need to take a boat or golf cart ride through the mangroves to get there. For off the beaten path, the hotels in Akumal are best. Akumal is a quiet little beach town south of Playa with excellent, uncrowded beaches. Hotels right on the beach aren't fancy, but they're cheaper than the all-inclusives around Playa. Hotel Akumal Caribe is one to check out. To really rough it, you can get one of the cabanas in Tulum. Be warned, they're really just huts on the beach--sand floors, no water, pit toilets...but you do have one of the nicest beaches on the planet right out the front door.
