You can catch the Block Island Ferry from Newport for around $20. If you need a day of relaxation and aesthetic beauty, Block Island might very well be worth the ferry fare. There are 350 spring-fed freshwater ponds and 17 miles of beaches. If the fall air brings you in from the shore, an array of restaurants, boutiques and lighthouses are located on the island. I hope this helps you plan your travels. Have a great trip!

Sorry to hear your having a problem. Car rental searches work the best when you enter airport codes (you'll also save money renting from an airport). The airport code for Providence airport is PVD. Also, make sure you have your browser set to allow pop-ups from Away.com. The various sites you select will display in pop-up windows. The browser Help menu will explain how to enable pop-ups for a specific site.

Best way would be to take 95 through CT and into RI. Get off at exit 3 and follow 138 to rt 1. It's a nice ride, from NY depending on the time of day, should take between 3 and 4 hours. There are buses from Newport to Warren. Car ride is about 25 to 30 minutes.

I'd recommend Wickford Village for a normally less-crowded option. Here is a link to their site: http://www.wickfordvillage.org/Home/Village-Photos.aspx
