You can, however, swim at Sandy Point State Park, which is about ten miles southeast of Riviera Beach just off US-301 and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

    Not sure if this counts as historical or not but a tour of the infamous Eastern State Penitentiary might be a fun. You can see some of the sites in Philly's Old City and catch a bus near the Constitution Center for a short ride to the prison: http://www.easternstate.org And of course everyone can run the Rocky steps in front of the Philly Art Museum.

    Sounds like you are interested in somewhere on the Eastern Shore. Ocean City or possibly the Delware Beaches like Bethany, Rehobeth or Dewey. If you do a search for these beaches- some decsriptions will come up regarding good places to stay depending on your budget. Rehobeth has the largest outlet stores for shopping. Ocean City does have some outlets, but not as many as Rehobeth...
