    Not sure if this counts as historical or not but a tour of the infamous Eastern State Penitentiary might be a fun. You can see some of the sites in Philly's Old City and catch a bus near the Constitution Center for a short ride to the prison: http://www.easternstate.org And of course everyone can run the Rocky steps in front of the Philly Art Museum.

    There are a number of children's museums in Baltimore, including Port Discovery, the Maryland Science Center, and there are a ton of other child-friendly attractions such as the aquarium. There's also nightlife--bars and restaurants.
