There is a passenger ferry that plies the more sheltered waters between Marco Island, Ft. Myers, and Key West, but no ferry from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. It's a fine drive along the Overseas Highway, but it is SLOW! It can take anywhere from four to six hours from Miami. The other option is to fly into Key West, though flights to this small regional airport are expensive. Check the following website for ferry info from Ft. Myers (journey takes 3.5 hours): http://www.seakeywest.com/

That's a perfect time of year to visit (though who knows what this year will bring with all the crazy winter weather!). Daytime highs are usually in the mid-70s to 80s, with very little humidity or rainfall. Water temps will be a bit fresher, though warming slightly after winter.

The normal water temperature is in the mid 70's in November. It will usually fall through the month depending on the frequency of cold fronts coming down from the North. For the last couple of year's the annual low has been about 68, which doesn't happen until late January or February
