I would recommend Bad Gastein, Austria. The skiing is outstanding, whether you are a novice or a pro. I stayed there for several weeks skiing and snowboarding. There are quite a few upscale restaurants; and accommodations range from hostels to B&Bs to truly wonderful hotels.

Hi Martin ~ What a great idea for a retirement gift to an employee! The gift of travel! Some questions you may want to consider; Has the person traveled to Europe before? If so, to where? Do they have a valid passport; or is that part of the gift as well? A 7-10 day land trip would be perfect! Combining two classic cities of Europe such as London/Paris, Prague/Budapest, Istanbul/Cappadocia, Rome/Florence would work well. Or a 7 night city stay would be just as fun in Barcelona, Istanbul, Amalfi Coast or Dubrovnik. There are many options depending on when you will presenting the gift and when they can travel. Hope this helps ~ Any way you look at it; it's a fantastic opportunity and a gift anyone would welcome!
