25km (16 miles) W of Pucón and 764km (474 miles) S of Santiago
Villarrica is a quiet town that never really took off as a vacation resort. Cheaper accommodations can be found here, and the town is decidedly less touristy, but it sits a half-hour ride away from the more popular Pucón and attractions such as Villarrica and Huerquehue national parks and the ski resort.
Decidedly less popular than neighboring Pucón, Villarrica does have a charm of its own. It's a more authentic Lake District pueblo; the compact downtown area hums with activity as regular townsfolk go about their daily business. The town is also closer to Temuco and attractions such as Lican Ray on Lake Calafquén, Panguipulli, and the Coñaripe hot springs.
