About midway along the lake's northern rim, Millstatt am See and Seeboden are the principal lake resorts. Most hotels here are open only during the warmer months, and prices are highest in July and August, when reservations are absolutely mandatory. Prices are often reduced in late spring and early autumn, when it's easier to find a room. An organ-music festival is held here May to September.
