Lewistown is not right on the way to any particular tourist destination, so if you find yourself here, you probably meant to come. It is the hub of a large agricultural region known as the Judith Basin. The town is blessed with mountains, great downtown architecture, stately homes, and solid and modest citizens. And there are some notable recreational activities here -- especially hunting and fishing. The city is also home to two of the best B&Bs in Montana.
Lewistown is located in a broad valley surrounded by three mountain ranges -- the Big and Little Snowies, the Moccasin, and the Judith. This is the center of the Judith Basin. While Charlie Russell lived in Great Falls later, the Judith Basin is where he worked as a cowboy, and where he fell in love with Montana.
