30 miles southeast of Rochester; 19 miles west of Geneva
Canandaigua, at the northern end of the lake of the same name, is the kind of laid-back small town that epitomizes the Finger Lakes Region. Canandaigua Lake, the birthplace of the Seneca Nation that ruled this area in precolonial days, is the area's principal attraction, but there are a number of unique sights and experiences in what is rather redundantly called Lake Country. (Ontario County is home to 5 of the 11 Finger Lakes.)
