- Curacao is not just a beach destination. Visitors should plan to spend time in lovely Willemstad, Curacao's capital—and not just on a day tour. Consider a hotel in the city for at least part of your vacation. Places like Hotel Kura Hulanda Spa & Casino give you a chance to walk Willemstad's streets and enjoy all that it has to offer, and also to relax among gardens and pools only steps from urban pleasures. Many beaches are an easy drive from Willemstad, and hotels may have shuttles to and facilities at nearby beaches.
- Most of the island's natural beaches are free of hotels and some have an entry fee and some have facilities such as palapas, watersports rentals, showers, and snack stands, giving them the feel of a beach club. Top beaches include Cas Abao, Knip Beach, Playa Kalki, Porto Mari, and Seaquarium Beach.
- Some marriage documents require an apostille or consular legalization to be accepted on Curacao. You'll need a birth certificate (showing your parents' names), photocopies of your passports, an international declaration of unmarried status, and a divorce decree or death certificate if you've been married before. Additionally, you must send a written marriage petition to the town hall signed by both parties and provide two dates for your wedding, including times. Talk to a wedding specialist on Curacao or someone at the Dutch consul or embassy in the U.S. to make sure you get what you need in the right time frame.
