Curacao Beach Travel Tips

Unlike some Caribbean islands, Curacao locals love their beaches--and given the clear water, dramatic coves, and fine-grained sand, it's easy to understand why. The best beaches are on the northwestern coast, where you'll find more island residents than tourists. To see some of Curacao's best beaches, check out Cas Abou, Playa PortoMari, and Shete Boca National Park, one of the island's more dramatic coastlines.
Curaçao Underwater Park offers a glimpse of some of the island's best preserved reefs. Admission to the park is U.S. $10 to $15. Or check out the island's famed Curacao Sea Aquarium, which offers everything from turtle feeding to swimming with dolphins.
Consider taking a day trip out to Klein Curacao, which rests about 45 minutes east of the main island. This small spit of sand offers great snorkeling, and daytrips typically include beach BBQ lunches. You can dive, snorkel, or just laze out.
The diving might not be as awe-inspiring as you'd find on neighboring Bonaire, but Curacao still has some of the Caribbean's best reef dives, including the Mushroom Forest, the Valley, Sandy's Plateau, Barracuda Point, outings with the Dolphin Academy, and Superior Producer, a 230-foot-long wreck dive.
