Corsica Beach Travel Tips

  • Corsica booms with tourists in the summer, particularly August, but all but closes up during the winter months. Spring and fall are good times to see the island's nature at its peak.
  • Ferries run to Corsica from Nice, Marseille, Genoa, Livorno, Savona, and Sardinia from late spring to early fall, but service dramatically decreases during winter.
  • With infrequent public transportation, renting a car is the most convenient way to explore Corsica's beaches, but navigating the narrow, twisting roads is not always easy.
  • Palombaggia Beach, found at the south of the island, is world renowned for its perfect white-sand beaches, blue waters, pine trees, sand dunes, and red rocks.

Beach Overview: Corsica, France

Corsica, the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean, is a French province that dangles off the country's southeastern coast and is one of the most striking and naturally beautiful islands in the region. Its extensive coastline boasts more than 200 beaches and its mountainous interior often remains snow-capped through July. In fact, mountains cover two-thirds of the island, with two peaks over 6,600 feet tall capped by Monte Cinto at 8,800 feet. Forest covers 20 percent of the island, with pine and chestnut trees heavily represented. Teetering cliffs, jagged coasts, and strange rock formations make Corsica a trekker's paradise.Read More
