Yosemite National Park Romance Travel Tips

  • Because of the popularity of Yosemite and the high volume of guests, you can't reserve specific rooms at any of the hotels, with the exception of suites at The Ahwahnee. Among your choices: The El Dorado Diggins Suite has the only Jacuzzi bathtub in Yosemite, and the Mary Curry Tresidder Suite, perhaps the hotel's most romantic, is where Queen Elizabeth II stayed on her visit to the park in 1983.
  • A group booking ten or more rooms at The Ahwahnee, Wawona Hotel, or Yosemite Lodge at the Falls can book earlier than individuals. Lodging for wedding parties requiring at least ten rooms are typically booked a minimum of 18 months out. Wedding lawns and reception sites are also booked 18 or more months in advance (regardless of number of participants). Bottom line: The earlier you book, the better your chances of getting what you want.
  • If you aren't booking at least ten rooms as a group, mark your calendar for exactly 366 days before you want to arrive. That's the first day you can make an individual room reservation for park hotels, which offer lodging on a first-come, first-served basis only. Reservations can be made by calling 801-559-4949 or by logging onto the Yosemite park website.
  • Weddings of any size in Yosemite require a permit from the park, and there are restrictions couples should be aware of: no amplified music outdoors anywhere in the park; no helium balloons; and, to ensure the safety of wildlife, no rice, birdseed, confetti, or flower petals.
