The beaches of Huntington Beach run interrupted for 8.5 miles. You'll find a classic slice at Huntington City Beach, where surfers, sunbathers, and sandcastle builders mill around the iconic Huntington Beach Pier. This is also the best place to scope beach volleyball and surfing contests, or to wrap up the day around a fire-pit bonfire.
Dogs and their owners can find an off-leash paradise at Dog Beach, where dogs frolic in the sand and surf and even have their own drinking fountains.
Have a quiet day on the beach at Bolsa Chica State Beach, where softly breaking waves attract novice surfers, swimmers, and surfcasters. If you have a trailer or RV, you can camp here.
Bolsa Chica State Beach also shines as a haven for nature lovers—check out shorebirds and, if the conditions permit, spot grunions as they come to shore on select spring nights to spawn. Plus, you're right across the Pacific Coast Highway from Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve and its 200-plus bird species.
