Venice Beach Travel Tips

Most people come to Venice Beach for the people-watching as much as for the sand and sea. On a sunny weekend, you'll see musicians, jugglers, mimes, and more all along Ocean Front Walk, as well as plenty of wild outfits in the crowds.
Sports of all kinds take place on and off the sand, from beach volleyball to roller-skating at Venice Beach Skate Plaza to competitive pickup basketball games.
Bodybuilders hit the outdoor gym at Muscle Beach. Arnold Schwarzenegger pumped iron here. Take a seat on one of the bleachers to watch bodybuilding competitions, or just keep your eyes peeled for future movie stars/California governors.
Surfers can find their spot at the Venice Breakwater. There are several breaks here, and waves can be fickle—depending on the conditions, you might see beginning surf lessons or charging shortboarders.
