Catalina Island Sailing Travel Tips

If you're sailing to Catalina, you'll find the most moorings in Avalon's harbor (320) and Two Harbors. Moorings are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also anchor and take your dinghy into one of Catalina's boat-in campgrounds (reservations required).
Many sailors head to Two Harbors for its welcoming boating community, its amenities, and the solitude found away from busy Avalon harbor. These protected harbors offer dinghy and fuel docks, and a marine mechanic and supplies. They're also great base camps for hiking, snorkeling, fishing, and other outdoor adventures.
While Catalina Island Yacht Club does not provide reciprocal privileges to visiting sailors, several mainland yacht clubs lease facilities in Catalina's harbors for the use of their members.
If you're not an experienced sailor, you can still enjoy Catalina's waters by chartering a sailboat. Try Mariner Sailing Charters, based in Marina del Rey.
