What to do in Big Talbot Island State Park

One of only a few undeveloped barrier islands left along the Atlantic coast, this state park offers
a unique view into Florida's pre-European past. Walk down any of Big Talbot's nature trails and you may catch a glimpse of some Northeast Florida wildlife in their undisturbed habitats. The panorama of the Nassau Sound as it opens to meet the Atlantic makes the Big Talbot Bluffs a perfect setting for outdoor dining.

Located on one of the sea islands unique to northeast Florida, Big Talbot Island State Park offers rich and diverse habitats. Canoe routes through the salt marshes, fishing and sunbathing on Nassau Sound shoreline contrast with more active pursuits along the park's historic hiking trails. This is a premier spot for those who enjoy nature study, bird-watching or nature photography.

For fishing and boating enthusiasts Big Talbot's boat ramp is your key to bountiful fishing grounds. This recent addition to the park is a deep-water ramp with easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway, Nassau Sound or the Atlantic Ocean. There is a fee of $3 to launch a boat or $1 per person to park and fish or just enjoy the park. All of Big Talbot is a premier spot for those who enjoy nature study, bird-watching or photography.
