Barbuda can be reached by a three-hour ferry ride or a 20-minute flight from Antigua.
Considered one of the most undeveloped islands in the Caribbean, Barbuda's virtually private beaches have few facilities; stock up on water and snacks at Codrington Village.
Visitors and locals alike like to take a day off from the beach to explore networks of huge caves at Two Foot Bay and Castle Hill.
Located on the island's northwestern shore, the Barbuda Frigate Bird Sanctuary is home to more than 5,000 frigate birds and 170 species of other birds.
