Bahia Honda State Park Beach Travel Tips

  • The nationally acclaimed, 524-acre Bahia Honda State Park has some of the best sandy beaches in the Florida Keys, and some of the most accessible snorkeling.
  • First-time snorkeler? The park’s beachside waters rarely measure more than six feet deep. Snorkelers of all levels enjoy Looe Key Reef, which sits about 12 miles off the coast in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and is accessible year-round via snorkel cruises.
  • In addition to soft corals, small coral heads, tropical fish, queen conchs, and spiny lobsters, you may spot the occasional nurse shark. Leave it alone and it will return the favor.
  • Currents are mild in Bahia Honda with the exception of the Bahia Honda Channel. Swimmers should steer clear of its waters.
