Active and AdventureExpert Tips & Helpful Hints
- Is Kolob the world's largest free-standing arch? Recent measurements by Jay H. Wilbur in his paper, "The Dimensions of Kolob Arch" (www.naturalarches.org/archinfo/kolob.htm) place southeastern Utah's Landscape Arch as the most likely winner with a span of 290 plus or minus one foot compared to Kolob Arch's 287 plus or minus two feet.
- On a two-night backpack you could spend the middle day hiking to Kolob Arch, Bear Trap Canyon, or upper LaVerkin Creek.
- Hiking beyond the Kolob Arch viewpoint isn't recommended because of loose debris on the steep slopes.
