The Alder Creek Trail leads northward from North Wawona and ends at Deer Camp. It forms the western portion of the Wawona Loop that can be accessed from Glacier Point Road or Wawona Road. The trail provides access to Alder Fall, a little-visited 100-foot cascade.
This trail can be accessed from the Wawona District Office or the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona. It leads north from the access road to North Wawona. The route begins by climbing steadily from 4,000 feet. In the first mile it climbs 600 feet then turns westward.
The trail circles the base of Turner Ridge, which reaches heights of 6,800 feet. About a half mile west of the trail is Wawona Road. The route leads northward between these two features continuing to gain elevation. Nearly three miles north of the trailhead is a junction at 5,400 feet.
