This trail leads from Sentinel Dome/Taft Point Trailhead, one and a half miles, to Taft Point and Profile Cliff on the southern rim of the Yosemite Valley.

The Taft Point Trail begins from the Taft Point/Sentinel Trailhead on Glacier Point Road. This is a short trail leading to an overlook of the Yosemite Valley. Taft Point/Profile Cliff is the destination of this trek to the southern rim of Yosemite Valley, views of many attractions within the valley are available from this site.

Begin walking from the southwestern area of the trailhead parking lot. The trail leads in a southerly direction for the first quarter mile then turns westward. The trail descends slightly from the parking area as it nears Sentinel Creek. In a half mile the trail fords the creek and begins heading directly westward to the southern Yosemite Valley rim.

A half mile from the creek crossing the trail intersects the Pohono Trail. Bear left at this junction and follow a small drainage to the Taft Point overlook. From the railing you'll be able to see the natural features of Yosemite Valley's northern rim. You'll also be able to see the 3,000-foot drop from Profile Cliff. To return to the parking lot you can follow the Pohono Trail eastward or follow the Taft Point Trail. The Pohono Trail is approximately two miles longer.

Directions: From Arch Rock Entrance, Follow Highway 140 into the Yosemite Valley. Bear right on to Southside Drive and make a quick right on to the Wawona Road (Highway 41). Follow this road 9 miles to Glacier Point Road and turn left. Travel 13 miles along Glacier Point Road to the Sentinel Dome/Taft Point Trailhead. The trail begins from the southwestern side of the parking area.
