The Soudan Underground Mine, opened in 1882, is Minnesota's first iron ore mine. Today, it offers a variety of tours, including the Mine Tour, which takes guests a half mile down into the earth on a cage, then on a three-quarter mile train ride to the last and deepest area mined. Visitor Center, self-guided tours, and hiking trails are also available.
