This trail takes the traveler up to a glacier. It isn't an easy trail, but it offers a sight not usually seen.

After 2.7 miles the St. Varian Glacier Trail crosses and becomes faint up into a chaotic glacial moraine. Two lakes sit in cirques above the valley floor.

Directions: From Ward, Take CO 72 north to Peaceful Valley. Take Road #114 to its dead end at the trailhead (4WD recommended). Or you can hike the South St. Vrain trail to the trailhead from Peaceful Valley.

Elevation: 9,800 feet

Ending Elevation: 11,200 feet

Elevation Gain: 1,400 feet

Distance: 4.0 miles

Usage: Heavy to Extremely heavy

Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
