From the parking area walk through the picnic area to pick up the trail. It begins by heading eastward along the northern bank of Lost Man Creek. The trail is relatively level for the first mile. At the end of that mile it crosses a small tributary to Lost Man Creek and begins to ascend slowly. At this point the trail also begins to leave the creek side.

After gaining the ridge the trail turn southward, following the ridge to Bald Hills Road. Bikers will want to continue along the ridge to complete their ride to Redwood Creek Overlook.
