Located in the heart of the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach State Park is one of the most popular public beaches along the South Carolina coast. This 312-acre oceanfront park is one of the last natural areas remaining along the northern South Carolina coast. Myrtle Beach State Park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and has the distinction of being the first state park open to the public in South Carolina.

Visitors may choose from cabins, apartments, or campsites for there overnight accommodations. Two cabins accommodate six people each and are located 200 yards from the beach. A one and a two-bedroom apartments are available near the beach. A campground with over 300 sites is available near the beach. 100 sites accommodate RV's up to 50 ft and the others RV's up to 30 ft. Seven picnic shelters can be reserved. A seasonal pool swimming is offered upon availability of lifeguards. The Sculptured Oak Nature Trail is an easy 3/4 mile one way. Enjoy fishing from the pier or surf fishing for flounder, king mackerel, whiting, trout, spots, Spanish mackerel, drum and blues.

This popular park offers opportunities for camping, staying in cabins or apartments, picnicking, fishing, hiking, and swimming in the pool or at the beach.

Myrtle Beach State Park is four miles south of Myrtle Beach on US Business 17.

Climate
South Carolina generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Snow and freezing temperatures are possible in the winter at the higher elevations. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.
