From the trailhead, which is at a high elevation approximately one mile from Quartz Mountain, the trail descends south to the junction with Shoestring Lake Trail #1385. The trail tends to parallel the South Fork Manastash Creek, but is seldom within sight of the creek. It travels through open grassy hillsides, scattered large old-growth trees, and riparian areas. The trail is open to hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, fishing, and hunting.
