High View Nature Trail lies in the western portion of the park in Black Rock Canyon. This short, one and a half mile, loop leads through desert terrain that includes Joshua Trees and pinyon pines. The path begins from the South Park parking area and leads 350 feet up a hill side to a lookout that offers views of Mount San Gorgonio. A brochure is available from the Black Canyon Ranger Station, that describes the flora and fauna visible along this route.
Directions: From Oasis Visitor Center, Drive westward on Highway 62 and turn south on Joshua Lane, which will lead to Black Rock Canyon. Before reaching the entrance to the campground turn right and drive to South Park parking area.
