The Eureka Peak Trail begins from the Black Canyon Trailhead. Start this hike by following the California Riding and Hiking Trail southeastward from the trailhead. Follow this well-defined path for approximately one and a half miles. At this point the trail will enter a large wash. The wash forks as the trail enters it. This is where the Eureka Peak Trail splits from the California Riding and Hiking Trail.

Look for trail markers reading "EP" for Eureka Peak. Follow them in a southern direction through a drainage. Follow the main wash for almost two miles to it's end. There are trail markers placed infrequently along the trail. The last mile of following the drainage leads through a ravine and the northwest ridge line of Eureka Peak. Follow the ridge to the left and the summit.

Directions: From Highway 62, Travel eastward from Yucca Valley to Joshua Lane. Turn right on Joshua Lane and travel to the Black Canyon Ranger Station. Park in the ranger station parking area and walk to the Black Canyon Trailhead near the campground. Follow the California Riding and Hiking Trail for two miles to a fork that leads to Eureka Peak.
